Waters Acquity QDa Mass Detector Wins Gold in New Pittcon Today Excellence Awards

The 2017 Pittcon Today Excellence Awards honour innovative advancements and stand-out product development by this year’s exhibitors. For the first time in Pittcon’s history, the application process took place in advance of the conference and attracted more than 80 submissions from companies around the globe. Finalists exhibited groundbreaking work spanning all areas of laboratory science.

The announcement of the winners took place Monday where Waters was crowned the winner (in the over $100 million companies category) with their Acquity QDa mass detector, the first of its kind to measure the mass-to-charge- ratio of analytes at UPLC/UHPLC speeds. This innovation allows users to get instantaneous mass spectral data on every sample component without sending samples to a mass spec lab.

The silver and bronze winners in this category went to Phenomenex for their β-Gone β-Glucuronidase removal product and Beckman Coulter for their New Optima AUC analytical ultracentrifuge.
